Autism Awareness Art Fair

I would like to invite you to participate in Through My Eyes: Perspectives on Autism, the 3rd Annual Autism Art Exhibit sponsored by the Christian Sarkine Autism Treatment Center of Indiana University School of Medicine, in celebration of National Autism Awareness Month.  This exhibit is open to individuals age 8 years and older, including adolescents and adults, who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

We encourage teachers to have students submit their art as a school project, parents to help their son or daughter to share their artistic expressions, and other community organizations to promote participation. The deadline for submission is February 25, 2011.

Our goal is to help both professionals and others in the larger community to better appreciate some of the strengths of those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We will display accomplished artists as well as more elementary work to showcase how artistic expression can allow these individuals, who often suffer from impaired verbal and non-verbal communication, to express thoughts and emotions that would otherwise be difficult. Utilizing the Indiana University School of Medicine as our venue allows us to reach the general public, the university and the medical community.

We look forward to your participation and another successful year for Through My Eyes: Perspectives on Autism!

Sincerely,

Christopher J. McDougle, M.D.
