Child & Adolescent Residency
Thank you for your interest in our child and adolescent psychiatry residency. We think we have an excellent well rounded program that prepares residents for both private practice and academic child and adolescent psychiatry. As the only medical school in the state of Indiana and the second largest medical school in the country, we have a large diverse patient population that allows all required rotations to be completed in Indianapolis. The outpatient clinics and the consultation liaison service rotations of our program are primarily at Riley Hospital for Children, with additional community mental health clinics at the Midtown Community Mental Health Center. Acute inpatient rotations are completed at Methodist Hospital and intermediate term inpatient services are at Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital. We also have many opportunities for elective rotations that may be arranged locally and internationally based on your interests. Our faculty includes 10 full-time child and adolescent psychiatrists and 7 full-time pediatric psychologists, in addition to numerous Volunteer Faculty in private practice and other mental health agencies surrounding Indianapolis.
To be considered for admission to our program, applicants should have completed three or four years in an accredited general psychiatry program. We must receive your completed application no later than October 14, 2013. After reviewing applications, we will be inviting candidates to come to Indianapolis for an orientation to our program and for interviews. This will provide an opportunity for you to meet our faculty and current residents. Interviews will start in early October and end by mid-November.
Please let us know of any questions or special interests that you have. We will be glad to discuss our program over the telephone or by email prior to a visit to Indiana. Our current residents also are available to discuss the program if you need any additional information. You may contact me via email (email@example.com) or our coordinator, Jeanette Souder (firstname.lastname@example.org) for any questions or concerns.
We look forward to receiving your application.
